Where can we get new components to make our Eichler's original steel windows work? Rusco windows who was the original manufacturer has been out of the steel window frame biz since the '80s ... we called but they were not helpful.

If you indicate exactly what parts you need, perhaps someone has parts remaining from a previously installed window or can point you in the direction of a compatible part manufacturer.

Just replace them. Milgard makes something similar for around $600. Much better quality.

It depends on the problem and what parts you need. They might not be available at HD or OSH, but maybe some window repair shop could have parts that will fit.
My Rusco windows are still working after about 30 years of usage. I do not agree
at all that they are low quality. Furthermore, steel windows have narrow sightlines and
strength unmatched by vinyl and aluminum frames.

Milgard makes a very low profile aluminum window that is double paned. They look very original and can be ordered with low E or any other modern energy efficient option. We replaced both bedroom windows and noticed a huge decrease in noise (from a neighborhood garage band) and in condensation.
