Help!
We have leaks and I have been calling these people for two weeks and their voice mail is always full and they don't answer their phones. Are they still in business? Please Let me know if you have reached them. Thanks! - Susan in Walnut Creek.

I managed to talk with Chas, the owner, just before Christmas to ask about some minor cracking on our roof at the edge metal seams. He said the office was closed for Christmas break, and suggested I call back after Jan. 2. I didn't try to get in touch with them last week, though...

As far as I can tell, Able Roofing out of Concord contractors' lic. is expired as of Aug. because the work comp policy has expired. (I did a little research because I am working on a project in which Able done the roofing in 2001 and never completed the final inspection, the permits had expired, and I had to pay to extend the expired roofing permits before the County of San Mateo would issue new permits for work we were doing.) Any way I left a couple of messages in Nov. and Dec. the homeowner left many messages to no result. I looked up the license status at the CSLB (contractors' state licence board) website, and as of December 15, the had not re-instated their contractor's licence. Let this be a lesson to all homeowners out there that are considering having work done; make sure whatever work is the contractors' resposibilty (that is covered under a building permit) gets signed off by the local building dept. prior to paying your contractor his or her retentions (final payment). If any one has any info on Able Roofing (in Concord, CA, there are many Able Roofing Companies in CA)I'd appreciate an Email so I can give them an opportunity to finish this job before persuing other remedies. Thank You.

TRY LOOKING UP THEIR LICENSE NUMBER IN AN OLD NETWORK AD AND THEN GO WITH THAT. RUSSELL

Thanks for the reply, Russell. The old ads promote the "800" number; but I did find out that a managing officer became licenced imeediately after Ables' licence expired, and his ph# is on the CSLB website. Thanks again for the post :)
