The Coe House (rear view above) was commissioned by Clarence Coe, and his wife, Claire. Though 74 years have elapsed since it was built, the current owners are only the home's third.

A Neutra wouldn't be a Neutra without the architect's traditional touches, and the Coe House is no exception.

"They [the current owners] did a wonderful, meticulous renovation preserving a lot of original Neutra features, built-ins, the fireplace, wood-clad ceilings," Donovan says. Updates have also been made, she adds, including "today's amenities—an updated kitchen, bathrooms, HVAC, electrical, and major systems."

New wood floors have also been installed, as well as the windows and sliding-glass doors that created the sleeping nook in the secondary quarter of the home.

In one of the two bedrooms you'll find a light-filled room with a built-in desk, cabinetry along the wall, and a full-width window to the outdoors.

A sitting room with wood-paneled ceilings, exposed brick, and horizontal built-in shelving provides a restful area to decompress from the day.

A flexible space that has been utilized as a home office features large windows and a door with direct access to the outdoors. It could also be used as a third bedroom or studio space.

Outdoors, a flagstone and aggregate patio offers an ocean view from high above the Pacific. This inviting area is shaded by mature trees, offering elegant areas for dining and entertaining, while taking in the dramatic views.

Donovan reports tremendous activity on the property, adding, "All the [prospective] buyers who've seen it don't want to leave. I think that photographer Nils Timm did a phenomenal job capturing the spirit of the home, but it has to be experienced in real life to understand the beauty and the property in its entirety. It's very special."

"There are other architecturally significant homes in the area, but rarely do they come to market," she says. "This is possibly the only Neutra behind the gates; and it's guard-gated, which is very nice. It's so quiet the only people who come up there live there, or are delivering dinner to somebody."
