moving thermostat

Hi,

The thermostat in my flat-roof atrium model eichler is at an prominent place - on the hallway wall just outside the MBR,
visible from kitchen/LR/entry door to the house. I have always wanted to move it to a more concealed place. Have you done that? Is it hard to move the thermostat? Do I need to have an electrician to do it ?

It depends; If you have the original boiler, the thermostat is a line voltage (120V) type, and it is run in conduit under the slab and through the dirt to the boiler from that location. If it is a Lars, or some other newer model, they tend to work on a 16V or 24V transformer, and are easier to move. do Know that the reason that it is in a prominent location is that themostats are intended to be somewhat centrally located in the house, so that it can measure and regulate the temp. accurately.
If you are not at all familiar with electrical wiring, this is something that you should have an electrician take care of.
