Contractor at Fault?

Hi

We just had our kitchen remodeled by a contractor using IKEA cabinets.  He had a plumber come in to do the work on the sink and the dishwasher and the fridge.  During the course of this work the water was turned off and the day after the work was done I heard what sounded like a cement mixer in the garage.  It turned out to be the boiler making the noise so I turned off the thermostat.  I called LaChance to come out to turn on the system when the work in the kitchen was done and received the news that the boiler was toast.  I know it's an old boiler, but our system had no problems until then.  My question is, should I ask the contractor to help by giving me some money back to defray the cost of a new boiler?  Thanks for your comments.
