recs/tips for air conditioner

If anyone has recommendations or suggestions for adding an air conditioner to an Eichler, I'd love to hear them. Our kids' bedroom faces west and gets quite hot in the summer months. We have a new double-paned window and a blackout shade, but it still gets uncomfortably warm.

We're considering adding a single-room air conditioner unit and figured we'd start here for advice.
