I have a home that was built in the late 60's and it has an Eichler-like look to it. Although we don't have Eichler homes in Hawaii many of the subdivisions built during that time had a similar look. My house is a gable-ended post and beam structure with redwood t&g roofing (no rafters). These structures do not conform to the current building code for hurricane protection. Does anyone know how a lanai roof can be built that looks like the original but is also hurricane proof?
